Daddy's parents and Uncle Raymond (daddy's brother) came to visit today, and they took me to Stanford University for a walk, and I saw the most frightening thing! It's these really scary looking things. They look like people, but they don't move! I barked at them, and they ignored me! Daddy wanted to take me for a closer look, but there's no way I would go near them. This was as far as I was willing to get.Daddy said that they are famous sculptures known as Les Bourgeois de Calais, or the Burghers of Calais. These people are upset because they are leaving their home, and a mean king was going to kill them! Daddy said that the queen of England intervened and saved them. If they were saved, how come they're still so sad?
Holy! No way I'd go anywhere NEAR those things! I really don't like things that look like they should move, but don't. It's just not normal.
